In addition to our work in Building 14 we were also engaged as the Retail Architect for the NAS Prencinct. Across a timespan of 4 years, our role was to create the Retail Strategy understanding future student growth and the need to find an appropriate retail balance of essential services and food and beverage 'offers' that the University would feel comfortable with. In collaboration with the Lyons led Architectural Design Team we advised on retail design and services requirements for 24 tenancy spaces distributed across the precinct that varied from to "cold shells" to "fully fitted-out" Tenancies throughout all stages of the design and documentation.
We also developed the Tenacy Design Guidelines for the project and assisted RMIT during the Tenant EOI stage. We provided extensive Tenancy Design Reviews liasing with Service Engineers on all Tenant Submissions from concept through to final documenation. This included detailed reports with advice and feedback on design/services/ health permit / general compliance and RMIT protocols. During Tenancy fitout we conducted regular site inspections on behalf of RMIT and the collaborative design team through to practical completion.
As part of the overall Retail Strategy our office was responsible for instigating and developing the ‘Green Lease’ ESD initiatives that Tenants are required to adhere to and we designed and implemented the Waste Management Strategy for the project in cordination with specialist sub consultants.
