Bathroom & Laundry Renovation

Linda's home is a designer's dream. Large spans of glass look onto a lush private garden, filling the house with soft, dappled light. Her bathroom and laundry, however, told a very different story.

Last renovated in the early 90s, both rooms were tired and outdated, and the fixtures had started to fail. The deeper issue was the layout. The bathroom was too small, the laundry didn't function, and both were oddly shaped rooms that wasted valuable space.

The Approach

Linda came to us wanting more than a cosmetic update. She wanted professional input to make sure the new spaces were both beautiful and tailored to how she lives. Through a collaborative design process, we reworked the footprint of both rooms, bouncing ideas back and forth until the plans were resolved. The result is a generous bathroom and a laundry that works hard, in a space Linda never imagined could hold one.

The Outcome

The bathroom is now a calm, light-filled retreat, connected to the character of the rest of the home. A bath ledge, which Linda describes as perfect for a candle, a book and a glass of wine, has turned it into a daily haven after a long day. In the laundry, everything has a place: dog food storage and tool charging are tucked out of sight, keeping the space clean and functional.

Because Linda engaged her own builder, our documentation needed to be clear and complete. The design was fully resolved before construction began, so the build ran without a single variation.

"The plans were perfect for the builder to follow and because we had nailed the design there were no variations during the build."
"I love the finished rooms. The bathroom is beautiful and peaceful and so full of natural light."

Linda's advice to others: Spend time getting the design right. Think about how your current space does and doesn't work, and what you want the final outcome to be. That's where an architect is essential.
