Spitfire Square: A pedestrian-friendly retail complex enhancing the entrance to Christchurch Airport with shared spaces and alfresco dining opportunities.
Spitfire square is a large scale retail complex fronting the entrance road to Christchurch Airport.
To give greater priorities to pedestrians, the design utilises shared pedestrian/vehicular spaces to reduce traffic speeds and create pedestrian friendly frontages adjacent to the retail spaces. These spaces were also designed to accommodate alfresco opportunities for food and restaurant tenants.
