Response to the Client Brief

Designed to increase the capabilities of the dwelling and size of the living areas, the Bondi Junction residence involved the addition of a new first floor above the existing single storey terrace. The addition provides two additional bedrooms and a bathroom creating much needed space for the clients and ensuring the longevity of the building. The rear bedroom features French doors with views out to an adjacent park and a window seat overlooking the rear yard. Highlight windows and skylights have been strategically placed to ensure the abundance of natural light in the home, thereby reducing reliance on artificial lighting during daylight hours.  Recycled timbers and blackbutt, a sustainably forested and high quality timber have been used as flooring, stair, balustrade and in fenestration details throughout the residence. Zero VOC and non petroleum based finishes are among a number of the green initiatives used in the construction of this home.

Key Features:

  • Local and sustainably sourced hardwood timbers
  • Zero VOC paints and finishes
  • Timber framed windows
  • Stair made from recycled timber
  • Reused materials throughout

About the
Professional

Based in Sydney, Australia, Anderson Architecture was established in 2002 under the direction of architect Simon Anderson. The practice has experience working on a range of project types, specialising in the design and realisation of sustainable, high quality residential projects. We have a team of experienced architects who manage our projects from design to construction.

A philosophy of humanising contemporary architecture and connecting with nature are integral to all our projects. This, in combination with a collaborative approach to clients, attention to detail and an emphasis on site specific design characterise the practice’s approach to architecture.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
