This Community & Sports building will be used by a wide cross-section of the community- providing a range of facilities including; a community hall, function rooms, and sports changing facilities; it is part of a wider Urban Design plan for the suburb of Stoke, intended to drive future development.

The building sweeps down from a two storey pavilion and changing room facing the adjacent sports ground to a cafe fronting the Main Road Stoke, with anew pedestrian plaza creating a new civic frontage.

The distinctive silhouette echoes the site topography, as well as the form of the surrounding hills of the Richmond Ranges and the more distant Western Ranges.

Metal roofing material is used to wrap down the upper wall sections to the north and south faces. A plywood soffit, provides the warm character, which continues inside to the major spaces, and complements the exposed engineered timber beams of the roof structure.

Predominant floor to ceiling glazing is used at ground level for daylight, access and to provide visibility of the interior activities. Visibility through and around the building will also assist with orientation around the building, and will provide oversight of the exterior on all four faces- allowing passive surveillance throughout the extended use periods envisaged supporting a safer exterior pedestrian environment.
