By Kaynemaile
Kaynemaile worked with Parsonson Architects on this home in Salamanca Road, Wellington to create decorative screens which would also provide privacy and solar shading without interrupting the stunning panoramic views.
Five vertical screens run the full height of the building, on the perimeter of the balcony. This placement was designed to provide some solar shading and privacy from neighbouring properties to the balcony and lounge behind. The double layered Jade Green mesh provides protection from the Wellington wind which was a necessary material requirement for this project. The 3-storey high Jade Green screens create a striking visage from the street, against the white exterior of the house and gleam brilliantly in the sun.
Recently, this home has been short-listed for Home New Zealand’s 2019 Home of the Year awards.
Manufactured from engineering grade polycarbonate, Kaynemaile’s unique properties reduce solar heat gain into the building envelope by up to 70% without losing visual transparency. Kaynemaile screens can be made to any height or width without joins — Kaynemaile is the only manufacturer in the world that can do this.
