ABOUT

This project is comprised of 116 suite hotel with associated guest facilities and 40 residential apartments over 20 storeys, located in Western Sydney. The proposal is conceived for one of our hotelier clients with significant portfolio of hotels and service apartments in Sydney and regional NSW. The proposal focuses on a broad mix of hotel guests including local and interstate tourists, plus, corporate travelers. The residential apartments mix and sizes are tailored to suit the evolving demographic of western Sydney.

The proposed building occupies a relatively small corner site. In the immediate context is a mix of existing low to medium scale commercial, retail and residential buildings along with upcoming residential and mixed-use high-rise buildings.

DESIGN

The proposed built form is composed of a 3-storey podium to house the lobby, restaurant, pool and other allied facilities. The podium form creates a comfortable scale at street level for pedestrians, meeting the desired future character of the precinct. This also helps the building sit comfortably within the existing context and adds desired consistency to the street view. Rising over the podium is a curved and slender 17-storey tower with 116 suites and 40 residential apartments. Separate entry locations and lobbies are provided for residents and hotel guests.

The public realm is activated by the positioning of the main lobby, restaurant and retail along the street frontages.

The design features two distinct architectural languages that contrast with each other creating distinct tower and podium forms. Through materiality and design detail, the two forms complement each other via a mirroring of materials and colour pallet. On the podium level, bronze metal is combined with black tinted glazing. While the tower is provided

with black metal cladding in combination with bronze glazing. The consistent materials and colour pallet draws the forms together, while providing contrast and visual interest.

The proposed design takes advantage of the corner location and creates a gateway building to the northern precinct of this central business district site.
