Te Atatu South Medical Centre and Apartments

The medical practice needed to relocate so they purchased a residential property in a very visible location. The old house was removed, and a new purpose-built centre for this general practice was established with space for supporting consultants. The site had great harbour and sky tower views from the upper level, so two upmarket apartments were included on a second storey to make the most of the site. Timber decks and glazed balustrades to the upper floor apartments were included to allow occupants to engage with the views available.
The client felt the aesthetics of the space contributed to the occupants well being, so a lot of attention was given to those details. The building is architectural stacked bonded masonry to the front with a stone veneer decorative feature around the base, and Sto plaster system at the upper level. Feature tile and decorative panel walls are positioned throughout the centre with extensive purpose built joinery both in the medical centre and apartments above. Privacy and acoustics both internally and externally were key considerations in the project.

Lynda Slaney Architects (LSA) is an NZIA registered architecture practice and a Design 3 Licensed Building Practitioner with more than 23 years experience across a range of both residential and small commercial projects, including new and renovation design.

These can be developed to include colour and joinery design, then resource consent and building consent plans, through to builder selection and project observation.
