Tempo Cafe is a whole foods cafe with a strong connection to the outdoors. The brief was to create a fresh gender neutral space that was understated and timeless.
Our design approach is sympathetic to nature with careful consideration applied to materiality, form and tone. Tempo was designed to seamlessly integrate with the landscape in a fresh and contemporary, yet timeless manner.
A unique aspect to the design is the soft curved feature wall that backdrops the room whilst screening the bathrooms. A series of dials with sweeping hands were integrated to represent the movement of time, seasons and solar – rotating in sync with these elements.
Curves, texture, and natural materials appear throughout – from furniture and joinery to fixtures and inlaid mosaic flooring. All elements tell the same story and sit together to achieve a tranquil and gender-neutral interior.
