The Cascades

The Cascades was a full cosmetic period-based renovation that extended a 3 bed, 1 bath, 2 car home into a 4 bed, 2 bath, 4 car home.

The kitchen was replaced with a modern homestead-based kitchen with a glass splashback and stainless appliances. Adding additional top cupboards gave this small kitchen the extra space it needed and also allowed a range hood to be installed. The bathroom was converted into a more practical space by adding a double vanity and a larger bathtub to make room for the growing family. The laundry was converted from a dated laundry trough into a modern workable area with additional cupboard space.  We replaced timber flooring in all main living areas and carpets in all bedrooms.

An extension was created under the existing dwelling by digging out soil and underpinning existing footings. This created an additional 36m2 of underground space, with a constant ambient temperature of 17oC. Into this was built a large master bedroom or home office - perfect as a retreat - an additional bathroom and kitchenette with an additional fridge and wash area for the family.

The backyard converted an un-useable dirt patch into a 26m2 decking area lined with Pacific Jarrah highlighting the heritage tones of the house. Covered with a metal awning for full sun and wet weather protection this area creates the perfect entertainment area. Adjoining the back awning is an additional double carport and driveway, providing three additional car spots off the street on a busy, blind corner street. The final touch of a brick matched letterbox with signature gold decals and sandstone flagging helps blend this home with its neighbours.
