Earth, Wind and Fire

This stunning architectural build takes in all three Earthly elements. Our clients wanted to use cedar and stone for the exterior whilst incorporating solar in the roof trays and have a fully-automated interior that is future-proofed for a long and healthy life. The builder, Glen Cayless worked closely with our clients on their amazing journey to craft their dream home.

Two double story forms, clad in Cedar and Central Otago Schist are both introverted and extroverted encapsulating a subdued low profile entry then boldly opening up onto an generous sundeck incorporating a sunken seated area and fireplace. The home, primarily designed by Hyndman Taylor, allows for the living space to be on an elevated promontory offering almost 360 degree views of the stunning section. With double-glazed cedar units guaranteeing protection from the external elements whilst retaining internal warmth produced by the wood fire and in-slab heating, this inviting home stays warm and dry throughout the harsh Central Otago environment. Working closely with a local bespoke joinery company, our clients have managed to retain their identity throughout with an individually designed kitchen and pantry, fitted bedroom and bathroom joinery and unique pieces too.

Client Quote "Glen is very open to listening to ideas and accommodating changes."
