DUHIG TOWER HISTORY

The University of Queensland’s Duhig Tower was named in honour of The Most Reverend Sir James Duhig, Archbishop of Brisbane from 1917 to 1965, and member of the University Senate from 1916 to 1965.  The Duhig Tower provides study spaces with library computers and a postgraduate study area all of which have been recently modernised. The bright new refurbishment provides a vibrant educational environment for research and study as well as social and sharing, bringing the campus together. PIP2, PIP3, and Peak power units are installed throughout the building to keep student laptops and smartphones charged.

SIR JAMES FOOT BUILDING

The Sir James Foot building is named after former UQ Senator and Chancellor (1985-92), Sir James Foots, in recognition of his distinguished career in the mining industry and long-time personal and professional support of the University including his position of Inaugural Chairman of The University of Queensland Foundation from 1982 to 1985. The L-shaped building features an eight-storey tower block, flanked by a five-storey wing running alongside College Road. The building’s fixtures and fittings have recently been modernized, with most now equipped with OE Elsafe’s Peak, PIP2, and PIP3 power units.

WHY PIP2 and PIP3?

PIP2 and PIP3 are contemporary, low-profile power units designed for desk or panel mounting in educational and commercial environments. These units integrate seamlessly with furniture and can be installed either flush or at an ergonomic 8° angle to enhance end user access, offering flexibility to suit various applications.

The eco-friendly PIP2 and PIP3 units are crafted from up to 60% recycled plastic. Both models are compatible with our patented replaceable TUF-R USB charging modules, allowing for easy on-site repairs in case of end-user damage.

Additionally TUF-R USB modules include the world’s first reversible Type-A port, enabling a first-time connection every time. Connectors can be inserted both ways, cutting down on wear and damage from unsuccessful attempts and extending the life of the module and the product it is fitted into.

WHY PEAK?

PEAK with its eye-catching “floating surface” design, is an elegant new approach for providing power to shared spaces.   Choose PEAK in classic brushed stainless steel with black sockets or in matt white with grey sockets for a more contemporary look.

PEAK comes in a 6 or 8 socket option and can be configured with Australian power sockets, Data/AV connectivity, and our class leading TUF-R USB charging modules.

Despite a low visual profile, PEAK requires only 50 mm of mounting depth. PEAK is supplied with four M8 screw clamps which is all that is required to fit PEAK securely in place.

PIP2 and PIP3 are contemporary, low-profile power units designed for desk or panel mounting in educational and commercial environments.
