Awards: WINNER of a Playspace Award of Excellence NSW 2013 with Parks & Leisure AustraliaThis lovely play space area is located behind Thirroul Beach Pool. We have been engaged byCouncil to come up with design options based on a comprehensive and thoughtfully conducted consultation with local children, young people and their families. We were excited to learn that Thirroul was famous for its history of Wirth's Circus arrival in 1930's and grabbed this opportunity to respond to childrens' ideas on circus stories about baby elephant as it"became bogged in the beach lagoon"(Don Gray, 2010; My Thirroul). This elephant sculpture becomes a focus of the substantial nature play area amidst local palms anda small performance space with drums.

Corten steel fences were decorated based on children's drawings and now leave memento for all those involved when they grow up.

Celeste Coucke, the local artist elaborated on our circus and natural themes and included images of local nocturnal animals including flying foxes, possums, sugar gliders and Southern Boo book Owls. Meanwhile, a real 30 m long flying fox is being tested by all ages.If you can get to the top of the line...

UmbaCo Landscape Architects is a creative and dynamic landscape design studio based in Sydney. Founded in 2001, we work across the Sydney region and New South Wales on a broad range of projects, including residential, commercial, educational, age care and public open spaces.

We are a small team known for big innovative design ideas and talents.

Clients tell us they are often impressed by how proactive, energetic and efficient we are and how we think outside of the square. We keep to timelines and pride ourselves on our quality and high standards.

And we love a challenge! We are not daunted by bigger and more complex projects and we’ve been successful in winning awards for our work, both nationally and in NSW

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
