This was a compelling build to be involved in, bringing to fruition the owners’ plans for a tiny house with a clever use of space and a mezzanine floor accessible via an L-shaped staircase.

The exterior is a mixture of corrugated iron on the back and sides, with vertical tongue-and- groove cedar cladding on the front. The house is entered across a front deck, through a tidy set of french doors, taking you straight into the open-plan living area and well-constructed custom-made kitchen with plenty of storage. A broad, fixed window sits above the doors, filling the space with more light and extending the indoor-outdoor flow. Meanwhile, the decking wraps around to the right-hand side to an extra outdoor space that catches more afternoon light.

The rest of the tiny house is composed of a double bedroom, and short walkway leading to the bathroom, a beautifully finished wetroom with everything you need, including a laundry. The L-shaped staircase wraps around, finishing at the top floor, an extra living space or, alternatively, second bedroom.

Four north-facing windows throughout the house bring in plenty of natural light, year-round.

Fair & Square Building Services is a small, Pasifika family-owned and operated building firm with over 20 years of experience in the industry. We cover the Wellington and Horowhenua regions and maintain a permanent and highly-skilled workforce who undertake most of the work, including selective demolition, concrete and carpentry. As a Main Contractor, we specialise in new builds, home renovation and extension, as well as light commercial builds.

The size of our workforce allows us to manage quality consistency across projects and open communication with our clients. We have a strong network of subcontractors that we use time and again, ensuring good work collaboration, communication and management.

We’re confident that the range of clients we’ve performed work for, many on a repeat basis, would attest to our commitment and professionalism, as well as to the high quality in our work.

Fair & Square is big enough to deliver and small enough to care.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
