Upon arrival, a large, covered outdoor area is a meeting or gathering point that spills out from the living/dining space – the perfect place to entertain.
Look up to see a plywood-panelled soffit which features overlapping pattern work. Vertical columns are reminiscent of looking through tree trunks in a forest.
The landscaping absorbs references from the architecture, while local native planting is low maintenance.
A Metro fireplace has been positioned at intersecting ley lines and provides a meeting point for kōrero or conversation.
A Metalcraft roof cloaks the exterior and the structure is constructed in concrete block and Cedartech plywood, stained to achieve the desired red scoria and grey tones.
In the kitchen, stained oak-veneer cabinetry is contrasted by black gloss wall tiles, stainless steel appliances and exposed concrete flooring.
Internally, recycled timber can be seen throughout. In the kitchen area, Totara feature walls, Matai flooring and Jarrah benchtops are offset by white plasterboard walls and ceiling.
View of the exposed concrete floor in the living area from the mezzanine level.
Upstairs, cosy alcoves offer private spaces to read a book or enjoy the views.
A pale, muted colour scheme ensures the architecture remains 'the star' feature in one of the bedrooms. A timber-panelled ceiling and lush, dark carpet add constrast.
