By Shore Build
We had the pleasure of building this very cool home in Mt Eden situated alongside classic mid 20th century Bungalows
Built with masonry construction and a masonry veneer to the garaging and ground floor, the building’s thermal efficiency is well covered. From the street front, the elevation is glazed with operable louvres installed to manage the afternoon sun. In the living areas, the concrete floors are heated with hot water. Added to that, the ceilings to the living areas are designed for acoustic control and given the amount of hard surfaces it is a fantastic home to be in as there is no echo or bounce from sound. This not only brings functionality, it gives the ceilings a very sharp look.
The exterior cladding and roof to the master bedroom, walk-in robe and ensuite on the first floor is standing seam Coloursteel. Ply lined ceilings add warmth to the interior.
A stunning concrete bench to the tiled patio is complimented with a covered seating area and outdoor fireplace. The rear of the property backs onto a reserve creating the illusion that the rear yard goes beyond the boundary.
We were delighted to be awarded a Reserve Gold award in the 2019 Master Builders House of the Year competition. Thanks to the owner and architect, Adam Mercer, for allowing us to build a new home we are proud of.
