Valley House is a welcoming, modest 3-bed home located on acreage in Currumbin Valley. The Owners wanted to downsize, but also remain in their beautiful surrounds so set about creating a more comfortably sized home on the same block.
With the Owner an Architect, developing the design with in-depth local knowledge and approaching consultants as a respected colleague proved advantageous. Environmental matters were of utmost importance, and exercising restraint in the size and budget of Valley House kept emphasis on embracing the sites’ natural beauty.
Ultimately the goal was to create a sanctuary in the lush surrounds, utilising materials complementary to the natural landscape. Materials were researched and chosen for both aesthetic and environmental benefit. Externally, cladding delivers an earthy look and a pleasant pop of yellow symbolises the local abundance of sunshine. Internally the warmth of timber and splashes of yellow are enhanced by predominantly monochromatic elements.
