Looks like a new build but no it wasn't!! Apart from the spectacular views, only 2 walls, a staircase and part of the foundations remained from the old run-down wreck of a house. The client's brief was extensive - we were to create a mid-sized family home that was easy living with hard-wearing surfaces combined with latest up to date technology to run the home. A light and airy feel are achieved by the continuation of the marble tiles on the floor throughout into the living area, kitchen and dining which all open out to captivating views of Virginia Lake.
The kitchen has a huge family-friendly island that I used to draw visitors into the space towards the views and to provide a convivial, welcoming home. A partially separate carpeted area with curtaining provides a more formal living space which still connects with the extensive wrap-around inlaid sunburst design deck. A muted palette with textural wallpaper and pops of selected colours allows the views to speak for themselves whilst making the house feel spacious. A different toned carpet and textural wallpapers/curtains bring colour into the bedrooms whilst upstairs in the master bedroom is the international merit award-winning ensuite bathroom and dressing room.
Upstairs has a warmer more colourful palette which brings the blue skies from fine days into the space and a classical luxe look to the bathroom allows the user to enjoy a day spa-type experience. Wine glass in hand whilst relaxing in the tub looking out over the lake at night - what more could one ask for.
