In the creation of the Lindsay Road House, we embarked on a journey with a delightful elderly couple, infusing their vision with our expertise to bring forth a home that exudes tranquility and sophistication. Tiled Floors and Simple White Color Schemes: Responding to the client's vision, the Lindsay Road House embraces simplicity with tiled floors and a serene white color palette. This choice sets the stage for a calming atmosphere throughout the residence.
Marble-Grained Blue/Ochre and Grey/White Textured Tiles: To amplify the sense of space in the main living areas and bathrooms, we introduced marble-grained blue/ochre and grey/white textured tiles. These not only add visual depth but also contribute to an overall feeling of openness.
Sisal Wool Carpet in Bedrooms: Comfort meets style in the bedrooms, where warm-toned sisal wool carpet provides a plush foundation. This flooring choice creates a cozy haven, harmonizing with the design aesthetic.
Modern Country Kitchen: The heart of the home, the kitchen, is a blend of modern convenience and country charm. An in-built removable chopping block, wine fridge, and a vast island with Neolith Calcutta benches define this space. It's designed to be a hub for culinary creativity and communal gatherings.
Massive Walk-In Pantry:Anticipating the future, we incorporated a massive walk-in pantry, a thoughtful addition that ensures the home is adaptable for a growing family. This space enhances both functionality and storage capacity.
Bathroom Harmony and Quality Hardware: Continuity reigns in the bathrooms, with matching tiles and similar-styled joinery to the kitchen, creating a seamless flow. Quality hardware is a constant throughout, adding a touch of luxury to these essential spaces.
Architectural Innovation - Modern Pergola: Simone's visionary touch extended beyond the interior, as she revised the architect's verandah design into a modern pergola. This not only frames the large sliding doors but also provides shade during the heat of summer, seamlessly blending form and function.

Locally owned, Encompass Ideas Interior Design and Architecture was formed in 1998 by Simone and David van der Plas. Principal Designer, Simone has a background in design having previously trained and worked in the Display/Exhibition field she then moved into Interior design and small architectural projects in both the Commercial and Residential sectors. This experience (gained over 20 years) ensures that all designs from conceptualisation through to installation is not only unique to the customer but is innovative and meets functional needs. Simone is an award winning designer having won prestigious NZ awards and international awards in particular for her kitchen designs and is a Professional member of the NZ Designer’s Institute and National Kitchen and Bathroom Assoc.
