Landscape construction, planting implementation by Second Nature

Second Nature has been installing gardens designed by Trish Bartleet for close to 25 years. Trish is an outstanding designer. She uses a rich visual language; her designs are innovative, delightfully playful and always successful. The many gardens Second Nature has created with Trish are an enduring, timeless testimony to both great design and quality installation. 

Innovative design elements are essentially prototypes. These require a combination of the designer’s conceptual vision and the craftsperson’s ability to successfully translate the design into a functional and durable reality. 

This courtyard redevelopment transformed a chaotic, unusable rear courtyard in to a private and sheltered oasis. Prior to the work the neighboring homes had view lines directly into the clients living space. The installation of a bespoke retractable awning, the red glass water feature and the planting now create a sense of total privacy, shelter and enclosure. Living spaces in the house now connect seamlessly with the garden. Effectively another usable and inviting room has been added to the home.

The Second Nature team faithfully translated Trish’s vision, working closely with her to achieve a high standard of finish and attention to detail. Access was very limited, and all materials had to be brought into the site via temporary scaffolding steps. Our build team delivered beautiful concrete formwork walls, a complex water feature, decking, decorative screens and elements, outdoor lighting, irrigation and planting.
