Innovative hillside design in Lyttelton, featuring angular terraces that enhance usability while harmonizing with the natural landscape through native planting.
This project is located nestled in the hills overlooking Lyttelton. Earthwork undertook initial site planning to site the building efficiently in the landscape, maximising views and solar gain, whilst reducing cut and fill required.
Steep topography and a rocky sub-base provided the need for an innovative and interesting landscape design response. Angular terraces were proposed to create usable spaces within the hillside. These terraces provide a contrast to the otherwise natural landscape design, with native planting to blend seamlessly in with the surrounding environment.
