The replacement of this essential part of the Sumner community was an interesting project.  Architecture by Wilson and Hill provided an intelligent and practical response to the site and Earthwork complimented this in the landscape response.

The project required a balance between public space use, council facilities and the facilities of the surf life saving club.  A simple and robust material and plant palette was used to compliment the building with native dunal planting blending the building seamlessly into the surrounding dune landscape.

About the
Professional

Earthwork Landscape Architects is a practice based in Christchurch, New Zealand with a strong commitment to its client’s needs and the landscape, a clear philosophy and a history of top quality project delivery. The practice grew out of a rural location where it expanded its expertise in site planning and public design to a broad range of professional engagement. These original strengths in logical, well planned design and a commitment to the natural environment have been retained in our work.

The company now employs seven people, works throughout the South Island of New Zealand and overseas, across commercial, public and private projects. The practice has identified its core skills and these form the backbone of the multidisciplinary work that is now typically carried out. These core skills are site planning, landscape identity, communication and project delivery.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
