Restoration of a 19th century Colonial villa in Whitemans Valley, preserving its historical significance while transforming it into a modern, livable home.
This 19th century villa was built during the 1860's located in Whitemans Valley. Initially it was a saw-millers cottage, then it was used as the Wallaceville Valley Post Office. It is one of the oldest buildings still standing in Upper Hutt.
Taken over by a passionate couple, they had a dream to restore the villa to its former glory. The house was uplifted to a new location on our client's property and Maridale Construction got to work on a full restoration and addition. Designed by Callidus Architects and using our expert craftsmanship skills, we were able to transform this heritage home to a liveable dwelling while maintaining its rich history.
Our team handcrafted replicas of some original details of the villa to retain the exterior appearance as close as possible to when it was first built in the 1800's.
