The Opportunity: The brief for the Winchester Street project came to Modern Age Kitchens & Joinery via the architectural plans developed by D&D Architects. The clients desired a new kitchen that would align with the home’s modern aesthetic. The layout of the house was maximsed with open plan kitchen, living and dining, including large sliding doors opening to east and west decks. The challenge was to deliver a high-end, bespoke, modern kitchen that maintained a minimalist look, concealed storage and created a sense of refined calm. An additional ambition was to integrate a “hidden room” — effectively using custom joinery paneling to discreetly conceal a room at the front of the property. This needed to blend seamlessly with the interior to maintain the clean lines and overall design harmony. The Result: The completed Winchester Street kitchen delivers a refined, architectural response that enhances both the functionality and aesthetic of the home. The expansive waterfall island anchors the open-plan space, providing a sculptural focal point while maintaining clean, uninterrupted lines. Crisp white cabinetry paired with subtle detailing creates a sense of understated luxury, allowing natural light to amplify the feeling of openness and calm. Seamless integration was key to the success of this project. Appliances and storage solutions were thoughtfully concealed within bespoke joinery, preserving the minimalist intent while ensuring everyday practicality.
