By Peninsula Roofing & Scaffolding
Peninsula Scaffolding Ltd were tasked with encapsulating an entire house on a prominent headland site over-looking Coromandel Town, open to the elements from every angle. Layher Scaffold and Layher Keder Roof Systems were chosen, as they facilitate a robust temporary weather protection solution. This extra high wind zone was calculated by our external engineer, to require 50 tonnes of ballast!
The flexibility of the system enabled Peninsula Scaffolding Ltd (in collaboration with the design capabilities of Layher NZ and the sign off by an external engineer) to create a protective roofed structure, and combined with sheet wall components, the ability to expand into a fully weather proof encapsulated cover, which would allow for a re-roof of the existing house to be undertaken in the most timely and efficient manner “inside” the structure.
The builder requested the ability to work on the total roof area all at once. To facilitate this huge working area, we used 3 large lattice beams, laced together, sitting at 500 mm above the ridge line, at the change of direction of the roof.
Peninsula Scaffolding Ltd prefer the Layher Keder Roof System because it provides a “Green Construction” capability. We can reduce plastic waste (shrink wrap usage) as the Keder Roof System sheets utilised on the roof and sides of the main structure, are re-usable.
Being green, quick, economical and easy to assemble, Peninsula Scaffolding Ltd can counter the diverse range of weather protection requirements the Coromandel Peninsula throws at us. Whether the job be for building repairs, re-roofing or renovations. A sound investment in a system which potentially can be used in multiple applications across the residential, commercial, infrastructure, staging and event sectors.
