With the launch of the new Prime Panels website this month, the digital design space in New Zealand has taken a jump into the future. Removing what is often done in the physical realm, architects and designers can now operate and engage with Prime Panels' products in the digital world.

It’s a fresh concept for New Zealanders, and one that marks the start of a new era in terms of how product suppliers and designers engage with one another.

The website allows users to experience a greater level of online engagement. The new digital functionality applies to all products right down to the level of individual colours.

“We think we’ve set a new standard of usability for our type of product,” Prime Panels’ Group Marketing Manager, Desiree Keown says. “We believe the ability to download full sheet images of all of our products is a huge benefit. We’ve photographed every sheet of veneer we offer and we think this is a first for the industry.”

But it’s not just the ability to download full sheet images that places this website in the realm of the future; it’s the sophistication of the information behind that image or product. “When, for example, you click on a swatch, it provides all the size and edging options available for that colour, and whether it’s a match to a Resene colour or has a melamine/HPL colour match available. And, helpfully, if there is an installation photo of that colour, it will automatically display that image so you can see how it looks when used in a residential or commercial setting.”

The ability to download full sheet images is particularly useful to view the full detail included in a pattern or wood grain decor, or for architects who want to provide renders to their clients. “When you want to create a render with patterned or 3D products that shows how the sheet will look when laid across multiple widths, such as commercial projects with veneer wall panelling or a large kitchen with full height patterned laminate cupboards, you simply need to access the imagery on the website and easily incorporate into the render,” Desiree says.

A new sharing function also means designers can create a project and share with clients anything from techincal documents and brochures to colour swatches and installation photos directly from the site.

Prime Panels specialise in the design and manufacture of a huge selection of veneer, melamine, acrylic and high pressure laminate panels for decorative interior surfaces, all of which are made in New Zealand.
