“We often have a meeting in a previously completed home, where the potential client can view our work and also chat with the past client about our credibility, running of the project and how it was managed financially.”

“To us, reputation is everything. We have always relied heavily on our reputation and a referral system that has worked well for us,” says Sweeney. “Interaction and engagement from past clients on our social media posts, testimonials on our website and also the willingness we have to put past and present clients in contact with potential clients to discuss our process.”

Negotiating contracts with builders requires open communication and a clear understanding of expectations from both parties. Sweeney advises clients to discuss pricing, timelines, and contract terms openly, ensuring that all terms are clearly outlined and agreed upon to avoid misunderstandings later in the project.

“The contract terms usually work out better when there is more time available for this to be discussed. Any last minute additions or requests to the terms (from either party) can add strain to the process. More time and open discussion around the ‘why’ of such conditions usually get the best result.”
