The appliance brand’s new Auckland location has been designed to inspire bespoke architecture, kitchen perfection, and a life lived in ‘the heart of the home’ through an immersive, experiential showroom.

For Fisher & Paykel, ‘Designed in Aotearoa New Zealand’ is more than just a statement on a product label — it’s who they are. So, when it came to building a home for the luxury appliance brand in Tāmaki Makaurau, it made sense that the space should embody this identity. The new Fisher & Paykel Auckland Experience Centre stands proud on Grey Lynn’s Great North Road, and officially opened on August 23, 2022 after a pōwhiri by local iwi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

“The completion of the Auckland Experience Centre is one of the most significant moments in Fisher & Paykel’s history. This timeless, luxury environment is a new home for our brand, and a complete cultural expression of our place of origin,” says CEO, Daniel Witten-Hannah.

“It represents our ‘Designed in Aotearoa New Zealand’ identity, our connection to place, the things that shape the way we think, and the way we design unique and meaningful things. It’s different because it is a complete manifestation of where we come from. It defines our place in the world. It’s where our people are. It’s where our company was born in 1934,” Witten-Hannah explains.

The space houses multiple luxury kitchens designed by leading international designers Boffi, Arclinea, and Henrybuilt, created to offer those embarking on the home design journey an immersive and tactile experience with the Fisher & Paykel appliance collection

Alongside the kitchens, guests can explore a laundry and wardrobe area (also designed by Boffi), an outdoor kitchen fitted with Fisher & Paykel’s outdoor cooking brand DCS, an apartment-style space boasting several luxury appliance solutions, and a range of product galleries. The total number of products displayed sits around 250.

At the heart of the centre is the Social Kitchen. Here, Fisher & Paykel’s in-house chefs prepare an exquisite culinary experience using sustainably sourced ingredients and award-winning local wines. This aspect of the centre’s offering speaks to Fisher & Paykel’s culture of hosting and hospitality, says Mark Elmore, Executive Vice President Design & Brand.

“Our customers often fall into two groups – design lovers and food lovers. We cater to both through our products and through the design of the experience centre. We want people to walk away knowing more about New Zealand, as well as what our approach to design offers.”

“We’re showcasing the ways temperature and humidity combine with the science and techniques of cooking to produce incredible outcomes. However, we want to prepare food, sit down, and enjoy it together, because we believe it’s important to have a human experience around the outcomes of the kitchen,” Elmore explains.

Guests are also welcome to stop by the Plan & Choose Studio – a dedicated working space for visiting architects and designers. Equipped with material, product, and reference resources, homeowners can discuss the vision for their space with their design professional. Experience Centre design consultants are available to answer any questions that arise.

Fisher & Paykel has bold ambitions to be the number one luxury appliance brand globally, CEO Daniel Witten-Hannah says. “To achieve this, we believe it is important to bring our partners here to experience what ‘Designed in Aotearoa New Zealand’ means. To experience our hospitality and learn about a premium design language inspired by the natural world and by insights into the way people live.”
