Gutters are essential to every home, diverting water from your roof and into stormwater systems. An overflowing gutter is usually a sign of a blocked gutter system. Without the right solution, overflow will eventually degrade the gutters, compromising your home’s integrity, causing internal damage and mould to walls and frames – all of which are costly to fix. It may even compromise the personal style of your home that you spent countless hours creating.
Metroll is one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of quality steel building products. With a speciality in roofing, cladding, rainwater, structural and fencing products, the team has launched the Graptor – an innovative system that makes managing gutter overflow effortless. The Graptor is designed to make gutter overflow an issue of the past.
According to the 2022 National Construction Code, overflow measures are required to prevent water from entering or damaging a building, even if the gutter and downpipe system is completely blocked.
While numerous alternatives exist to address the issue, Paul says the “Graptor was designed never to fail, even if the gutters were filled with concrete.”
“We also wanted a simple solution for the installers so that they have minimal change to the installation technique and the quality of their work,” he says.
“The Graptor allows for the use of plain-faced gutters, increasing the rainwater carrying capacity of the entire system. This reduces the number of downpipes required to meet the regulations and harvests additional rainwater on your projects.”
The Graptor offers a fully compliant solution, utilising a plain-faced gutter profile that increases rainwater collection. Independently tested and compatible with a full range of gutter profiles, the product is suitable for metal and timber fascia.
The bracket design incorporates a spacer that is 10 mm from the fascia, creating a gap between the back of the gutter and the front of the fascia. The solution functions as a two-component bracket, consisting of the Graptor base for re-guttering or a Graptor claw for new installations. Each base can then accommodate a number of gutter profile stiffeners to suit the varying size gutters.
The base and claw have fixing lugs on their front leg to position the stiffener bracket, which allows adjustment to set the fall of the gutter. As such, string lines are not necessary to set the fall, simplifying the installation process.
Meanwhile, the solution is compatible for use with a wide range of Metroll designed gutter profiles:
