This legal office has been transformed into a dynamic, welcoming space

Curves, natural tones and textural details define the Russell McVeagh office in central Auckland. A renovation conceived by Emma Hofmann from Wim Studio to modernise and optimise the existing workspace of the law firm, the space continues to operate as a dynamic legal office – incorporating areas for both collaboration and individual work. A key part in achieving this was the design and construction of tailored joinery items and wall panelling by Evolution Construction & Interiors.

The materiality of the space has been carefully selected to align with the modern and sophisticated aesthetic of the design. 

“Emma selected materials that were both visually appealing and durable, ensuring they would withstand the demands of a busy office environment. Evolution Construction & Interiors was responsible for the execution of these choices,” adds Oliveira.

In a space that can so often be cold and uninviting, natural timbers bring warmth to the office. The colour palette, designed by Hofmann, features neutral tones with subtle accents that reflect the firm’s brand – the whole space more akin to a high-end boutique hotel or club as opposed to a traditional office environment.

One of the standout features of the office is the custom wall panelling throughout, which has been crafted by Evolution Construction & Interiors to seamlessly integrate into this palette. 

Evolution was also responsible for bringing custom joinery such as cabinets, shelving units and furniture designs to life, including the ottoman in the reception space. With a double-sided seat, the piece connects two seating areas – the timber and fabric complementing the rest of the palette.
