Founded in 1961, by three unlikely friends and RMIT Architecture graduates Jack Clarke, David Hopkins and Les Clarke, ClarkeHopkinsClarke was founded on the belief in the power of architecture to connect people and communities, fulfil needs and enrich lives.  

Expanding into diverse sectors and multi-disciplinary projects started early at ClarkeHopkinsClarke. Trusted relationships, inspiring collaborations and invitations too good to refuse led us naturally from homes to schools to community design. We embrace the idea of technically challenging healthcare, commercial, mixed-use and retail development, inclusive seniors living and care projects, interiors, and large-scale urban design that often involves elements of all sectors. Throughout all of this growth and diversity, we’ve deliberately maintained focus on people and the communities and environments that nourish and sustain us all.  

On an individual level at ClarkeHopkinsClarke, we’re proudly people people. Our teams are diverse, socially aware creatives who share our values, hunger for impact and shape our culture. Like our founders, we continue to mentor staff and leaders and promote from within. Partners are hands-on. Teams are agile and non-hierarchical. Leadership is encouraged in everyone.

Impact Tomorrow
We design to change the world, one project at a time. We use our expertise as architects, interior designers and urban designers to build environments that meet communities’ needs today and seize opportunities to positively impact tomorrow. We run our office and operations in a way that shows that we walk the talk. Our team live and breathe our mission beyond our walls and model this in their circles. Our architecture and design is proof of our commitment and a measurement of our success.  

B Corp
In 2016 we became Australia's largest B Corp certified architectural practice. A global movement of around 3000 certified businesses in more than 70 countries and 150 industries using the power of business to address the world’s most pressing environmental and social challenges, from the climate crisis to gender inequity.   

Carbon Neutral
ClarkeHopkinsClarke has been a carbon-neutral practice since 2018, and in 2020 we were certified by the Australian Government’s official climate body Climate Active. We advocate and assist our clients and collaborators to do the same. We’re active members of Architects Declare, the Australian Institute of Architects, The Association of Consulting Architects, the Design Institute of Australia, The Property Council of Australia, the Urban Development Institute of Australia, and the Design Futures Council.

Melbourne Connect

ClarkeHopkinsClarke Melbourne studio is located within Melbourne Connect, a new purpose-built innovation precinct in Carlton, attracting world-class researchers, artists and designers, industry, government, start-ups, students, and new institutions like Science Gallery Melbourne.

Melbourne Connect is an extraordinarily vibrant new community of future-focused innovators at the intersection of design and emerging technologies, all driven to collaborate on socially responsible solutions to our most pressing shared challenges. It is designed around collaboration, knowledge-sharing and relationship building and is a fantastic place to call home.

Through working at ClarkeHopkinsClarke you have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that make an impact through our purpose-driven approach. We use our expertise as architects, interior designers and urban designers to build environments that meet communities’ needs today and seize opportunities to positively impact tomorrow.

Community Leave

We encourage all team members to give back to their community and encourage volunteering. Advocacy and activism. We support individuals who want to do any volunteer work through two days of paid Community Leave per annum. We also sponsor two team members to take part in the annual Run From Poverty Experience to raise funds and awareness for One Heart Foundation.

Flexibility

We like to find a ‘best of both world’s’ scenario when it comes to flexible working arrangements that provide both flexibility for individuals and resilience for the practice. We offer working from home, part-time arrangements and alternative hours.

Guided Career Plan

Ongoing career and professional development is vital to our practice. We have initiatives in place, designed to support team members in setting short and long term professional goals and to help leaders guide this progression. This program is designed to complement and bolster performance reviews.
