By The Artificial
2-3 Storey new build within traditional character zone precinct. Features a 4 car garage, a lift, 4 bed, 4.5 bath, office, media room, swimming pool, second living area with bar and balcony.
“Blanco” rests upon the hillside site on Eldernell Terrace in Hamilton offering unobstructed views of the city across the Brisbane River.
The project team has thoughtfully created a structure that embraces the steep site and the local character of the neighbourhood.
The street elevation, humble in scale, yet dynamic in form creates an illusion of a modest house carefully inserted into the street. Its solid face transitions into a series of concrete planes to the rear, that open up to the views and appear to float, only supported by the expanses of perimeter glazing.
Three levels of the house place the master suite with a private balcony above the entertaining level with guest room, office, and dedicated balcony. The lower level accommodates the bedrooms and the main living spaces that seamlessly open out onto the lawn, outdoor living, and pool. Each level has been passively designed with generous glazing promoting cross ventilation and providing ample natural light. Planting has been integrated throughout the building and site as a measure of adding amenity to not only the inhabitants but also the neighbours.
Like its namesake, Blanco, a predominately white weatherboard exterior aesthetic reflects the local character. Bands of concrete and white render compliment and contrast the weatherboard surfaces with fine metal and timber work add a layer of fine-grained detail. This restrained yet considered pallet of materials and finishes expresses an aesthetic that is timeless and complementary to its surroundings.
