The Halls of Residence at the University of Canterbury provide independent campus living for 845 students. The Halls are set in a leafy and accessible part of the city, attracting students from New Zealand and abroad.
Working with Warren and Mahoney Architects, RMM's comprehensive landscape proposal incorporated new entrances, parking extensions, open space, and designs for courtyards.
RMM's design promotes outdoor living spaces and principles of environmentally sound design. As part of the overall site development, stormwater management systems were implemented. These included porous paving and rain gardens, making the process of rainwater harvesting clear to pedestrians.
