Civil - Tapuwae Way, Mangere Bridge banner

Due to Auckland’s shortage of affordable housing, council have been working hard and fast to free up available parcels of land for quick turnaround residential developments; whilst also adhering to strict council guidelines and consent criteria.  As an established multi-discipline engineering practise, EDC has worked closely and effectively with council over many years and as a result, EDC was positioned perfectly to assist with the Kirkbride development.

Designated as a Special Housing Area in order to be fast-tracked for residential development, this section has a flat gradient and is registered as a partial flood plain. This provided a number of drainage and roading design challenges that required effective solutions that also satisfied council requirements. EDC moved quickly to carry out hydraulic analysis and responded with well-considered and aesthetically pleasing stormwater mitigation and earth work designs that included large retained open channels. The specific design was also incorporated for rain gardens, providing a “green” water quality solution for road run-off.

Under the one roof, EDC were able to provide geotech, civil and some structural engineering across the Kirkbride project including full design, consenting and construction supervision.
