By Perry Mills & Associates Landscape Architects
Following renovation of this quaint C19th cottage, this client realised the bland garden let the property down.
Our approach celebrated an old Mulberry tree and introduced a more energetic, angled layout that took advantage of the length of the space.
The lawn is framed by a sitting wall and low hedging, overlain with billowing soft foliage planting and plenty of flowers. The long view down the garden is led towards a distant tree in the borrowed landscape.
By developing two quite different garden themes at sketch stage, the client was able to explore unimagined options, taking elements of each that were resolved as a final garden concept.
From this we helped her through the stages of hardscape construction of paving and a stone clad sitting wall to the point that she confidently undertook much of the replanting herself.
The client found that when selling the property a few years later, the garden was featured in the advertising and proved a very worthwhile investment!
