Nestled behind Eden Park Stadium, this project blended contemporary design with heritage charm by extending a classic villa with a sleek modern addition. The aim was to create a harmonious transition between the existing heritage villa and the new extension while adopting Lunawood vertical timber cladding, as well as bevelback weatherboard and timber character elements to tie the two structures together.

Internally, the project included strategic alterations to retain the generous ceiling heights, preserving the sense of spaciousness and airiness that characterizes the original villa. These alterations were carefully integrated to ensure a seamless flow between the old and the new.

Additionally, the project involved the reinstating of the brick heritage chimney, a feature of historical significance to the villa. The restored chimney serves to retain the villa's authenticity, demonstrating a commitment to preserving its heritage value while enhancing its functionality for modern living.

DRAWN is a collaborative architectural design studio, based in a multi-disciplinary design space in Ponsonby, Tāmaki Makaurau. Started in 2012 as a draughting company, DRAWN has since grown into a team of designers and technicians who can deliver projects ranging from small scale; tiny homes, renovations and commercial fit-outs, to larger scale projects such as new builds, multi-unit housing developments, and town planning.

At DRAWN we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of collaboration and growth. We are constantly engaging with new design philosophies in order to face the challenges of climate change, building costs, energy efficiency and sustainability. We are committed to realizing the creative vision of our clients - from first meeting, through design, and to completion.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
