Langs Beach New Build banner

Drawn collaborated with David Frost form Architecture & Design Ltd to detail this coastal new build at Langs Beach. North facing with stunning ocean views, this home provides the clients with a sunny, comfortable retreat away from the city. The site context determined much of the design and construction methodology, with a moderate slope descending towards the beach. The house is anchored into the topography with an excavated lower floor, using stack bonded masonry to frame the garage and bunk room spaces. The composition of the house prioritises sunlight with louvre screens and void spaces providing the internal spaces with generous yet comfortable natural light. Inspired from the coastal context of bleached driftwood and weathered surfaces, the home blends into its surroundings with its palette of greys and whites, and splashes of blue and green. This is enhanced by a natural representation of materials, with natural texture Shadowclad, exposed block and timber flooring.

DRAWN is a collaborative architectural design studio, based in a multi-disciplinary design space in Ponsonby, Tāmaki Makaurau. Started in 2012 as a draughting company, DRAWN has since grown into a team of designers and technicians who can deliver projects ranging from small scale; tiny homes, renovations and commercial fit-outs, to larger scale projects such as new builds, multi-unit housing developments, and town planning.

At DRAWN we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of collaboration and growth. We are constantly engaging with new design philosophies in order to face the challenges of climate change, building costs, energy efficiency and sustainability. We are committed to realizing the creative vision of our clients - from first meeting, through design, and to completion.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
