DECO collaborated with 2014 ‘The Block’ winner Shannon Vos to revamp this home and to help give his outdated façade a much-needed facelift.

Shannon’s vision was a floating fence as a statement feature leading up to the front porch. Vos needed the fixings to be hidden, and while he wanted the look of natural timber to add the warm and softness to his home, it’s bayside location meant the usual timber landscaping products would not be suitable due to the salt spray and moisture.

DECO had the perfect product solution for Vos’s landscaping – DecoBatten®. Vos chose 50x50 battens in DECO’s renowned timber-look finish, DecoWood®, which allowed him to achieve the appearance of a timber fence, but without concerns around maintenance, refinishing or deterioration. The marine grade finish is able to withstand sea breezes and salt spray, and will not fade or discolour even in strong seaside sunlight. The soft, warm tones of DecoWood’s® Coastal Spotted Gum™ finish add a homely touch, while perfectly complementing the sense of coastal living exuded by Vos’ home.

With concealed fixings and dimensionally stable profiles, DecoBatten® was able to provide the floating fence Vos had dreamed of, with the battens appearing to stand freely for a minimalistic look and clean, uninterrupted lines.
