A complete renovation of the existing property into a beautiful two-storey open-plan masterpiece with an aesthetically pleasing outdoor entertaining area.

Overview

With a true renovation - a complete overhaul of the old property, this project turned an old family home into a luxurious, comfortable abode with an open-plan style, featuring a large master bedroom with ensuite, and a superb dining area, smoothly flowing out onto the deck and backyard pool.

Challenges

The largest challenges facing this renovation were twofold: a lack of connectivity with the cosy beachfront street, and a cramped, enclosed interior that failed to meet our clients’ desire for a comfortable living and entertaining space.

The front of the house lacked the desired street-appeal, appearing weathered and aged without the modern, welcoming aesthetic they sought. Further, the entry point to the house was tucked away down the side, promoting a closed-in atmosphere. Inside, much work was needed to open the space to a more comfortable ambience - with a proposed open-plan design to cultivate an environment of relaxation.

Solutions

To provide a solution to the first of the two challenges, we lifted and extended the roof forward toward the road to make space for an entry porch with a warm community aesthetic, and installed modern cladding systems. The extra height allowed us to install large sliding doors to open the property to allow more light and free-flowing passage.

With our open-plan fit to the interior, we created an inviting entrance to the property with a custom joinery feature to the beginning of the stairwell. Paired with the open atmosphere, our renovations managed to generate a beautiful first impression that our clients absolutely adore coming home to.

Outcome

The end result of this project was in a beautiful, community-facing home that is perfect for resting, conversing, and entertaining in. It feels connected to the neighbourhood with a welcome, open front, and a lavish open-plan interior. The deck and pool were especially excellent touches.
