After moving to their dream location of Elwood, Rodney and Bev partnered with Susie Miles to help create their bespoke new look, guided by Susie in selecting unique finishes to bring their vision to life. Transforming the interiors one room at a time in this major renovation, Susie worked closely with the clients to refurbish the townhouse and fulfil their brief of a sophisticated, stylish home.
The 90s-style townhouse was given a complete makeover from top to bottom, bringing in a fresh contemporary style. The design process involved a detailed new kitchen, bathroom vanities, study cabinetry, and bedroom joinery. From cabinetry to finishes, furniture, fabrics, window treatments, lighting and art, every element is thoughtfully designed to create a cohesive, personalised look and improve the liveability of the spaces for the clients.
From the sleek kitchen detailed in champagne brass metal and white to the bathroom vanities, study cabinetry, and bedroom joinery, every corner of the home was carefully crafted to maximise storage and create a feeling of spaciousness at the same time.
Space was high on Rodney and Bev’s priority list in the confines of the townhouse and storage was a non-negotiable!Every conceivable centimetre was meticulously planned (even down to the kitchen kickers, which were re-purposed as drawers in the kitchen island bench). Behind the sleek finishes and minimal design, compact storage is detailed in the cabinetry in almost every room.
The elegant champagne brass and white colour scheme featured throughout the cabinetry adds a touch of sophistication, complemented by sleek black handles and fittings that tie in perfectly with the existing black window frames.
The clients love the delicate beige - gold veins in Cosentino Dekton Entzo featured in the kitchen benchtops and splashback, chosen to complement the golden tones in the champagne brass cabinetry.
The brass and white theme from the kitchen moved into the bathroom vanities, where the champagne metal cabinetry was repeated, keeping the elegant theme flowing throughout.
Susie worked closely with Rodney and Bev introducing lighting designer Ilanel to design a beautiful linear brass pendant with handblown glass spheres in the clients’ favourite colours of navy, teal and white to feature above the dining table.
The gold and teal colour scheme continued into the living room scheme, in the rug, sofa and cushion fabrics with the golden feature reappearing in custom marble handles on the Zuster entertainment cabinet.
Practical and stylish and doubling as a fourth bedroom, the welcoming home office features Polytec Notaio Walnut laminate benchtops and file drawers with moss green laminate doors; bringing a feeling of calm warmth to either work or sleep in.
When it came to the master bedroom, luxury was important. The clients wanted a welcoming space to retreat to at the end of the workday. Fabric textures and tones in a more muted palette are highlighted by bold teal velvet cushions in the custom -built window seat, transforming an everyday storage unit into a calming reading nook and a room they look forward to spending time in.
It's all down to the details at the Elwood house, where functionality and colour continuity flows from room to room to complete this elegant home transformation.
