For their latest residential project at Darling Point, Mia Lake Interiors embraced a bold and refreshing brief: colour blocking. Guided by the client’s vision, the design team adopted a playful approach while thoughtfully balancing the home’s traditional architecture and lush garden surroundings. The result is a space where elegance and energy coexist harmoniously.
Inspired by nature, the palette features rich greens, calming blues, and the soft hues of florals, creating interiors that feel like an extension of the outdoors. This thoughtful connection to the natural world infused the home with a serene yet vibrant character, striking the perfect balance that defines the entire project.
This project’s creative journey was deeply tactile and collaborative, beginning with a visit to Peter Lewis Paints. Custom colours were expertly mixed to align with the vision, setting the stage for a bold yet cohesive palette
The team then partnered with Carve Interiors to craft joinery featuring a polished veneer that added depth and texture to the space. Meanwhile, Granite and Marble Works brought bold, chunky stone elements to life, delivering striking focal points that tied the interiors together.
Every design decision was meticulously considered, supported by detailed sketches, CAD work, and 3D renders to ensure harmony between materials, finishes, and colours. Grounding the vibrant palette were the dark bronze details, including Momo Handles, tapware, and rangehood accents, which provided a cohesive and sophisticated foundation.
Reflecting on the completed project, Mia Lake Interiors takes pride in how the colour palette transforms the home’s atmosphere. The interiors feel energising yet inviting, proving that bold design, when executed thoughtfully, can create something truly magical.
This Darling Point residence stands as a testament to collaboration, creativity, and the fearless use of colour, transforming a home into a timeless masterpiece.

Momo Handles is of humble origin. Launched in 2008 with the vision to create a simple range of popular handles to supply Australia's kitchen and cabinet makers. Momo handles proved to be reliable, well designed and unpretentious. Inturn Momo’s popularity grew and it became clear designers and cabinet makers were craving a fresh approach that better balanced style and quality with affordability.
This watershed moment was the beginning of Momo’s journey and transformation. The team then diligently scoured international ranges, emerging trends and industrial design until there was a clear vision of how to best evolve the Momo offering.
Momo Handles had to re-imagine itself and unite it’s core brand values. Design aesthetics, beauty and quality are paramount to the brand. In 2019 they unveiled this vision with a refreshed look and an inspired new product range. The New Momo was born and it’s popularity soared. In 2020 they launched exclusive new designs, developed only for Momo Premium.
