In a serene corner of Greenhithe, this sophisticated outdoor kitchen showcases how thoughtful design transforms everyday barbequing requirements into an elegant entertainment space. The layout artfully combines culinary convenience with refined aesthetics, creating an inviting connection between indoor comfort and outdoor living.

Speaking to the designer Shane George, the project centered around crafting a versatile space that excels as both a practical cooking area and a welcoming entertainment zone. The design ingeniously positions an open fireplace as a central feature, with kitchen elements strategically placed on either side.

The striking vertical baton detail in dark-stained timber creates a commanding backdrop, while considered elements like the integrated sink with its professional-grade pull-down faucet enhance the space’s utility without compromising style. A purpose-built firewood storage space blends naturally into the cabinetry, featuring a practical nook that keeps logs dry and easily accessible.

The success of this project lay in the details – from the textural elements of the timber batons to the practical considerations of weather protection. Each element was carefully considered to create a space that’s both beautiful and effortlessly practical.

The design addressed several technical challenges through innovative solutions. Surface-mounted services required precise integration, while the right-hand end of the installation needed specialised protection from the elements. These challenges were resolved through intelligent design elements, including removable access panels and a protective stone waterfall end.

The material palette was carefully selected for both aesthetics and durability. The dark-stained timber cabinetry features Hettich’s stainless steel Veosys hinge, chosen specifically for its corrosion resistance in outdoor conditions. The honed black granite benchtop provides a striking contrast while offering exceptional durability for outdoor use.

The space is appointed with comfortable grey wicker outdoor seating, creating a relaxed atmosphere that encourages lingering conversations around the fire. Potted herbs and wooden cutting boards add warmth and convenience to the preparation area, while the integrated BBQ delivers professional-grade cooking capabilities.
