The design and build of a new four-storied apartment block. (Including basement carpark)
With the teamwork of three architects, four engineers, several specialist design teams and a dedicated onsite force, this project was completed for the 2020 Master Builders House of the Year competition.
A highly restricted site opposite the university campus, adjacent to the new student centre, meant very strategic planning and quality assurance was required for this hillside build.
Ideally, the adjacent power lines would have been removed prior to the construction phase. However, this took place near the end of the job. We used a portable crane to lift the structural steel, precast stairs and the like in close vicinity to the live wires, a special permit was applied for to work within two metres of the cables.
These apartments are top of the line accommodation with the majority housing four bedrooms, three bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and each bedroom having its own balcony (master bedroom opens onto lounge/living area).
The smaller three-bedroom apartments have larger master ensuites featuring baths as well as showers.
All apartments come with the luxury of a swipe card or pin entry, off-road parking and additional storage in the basement for bikes and other equipment and hosts a total area 300m2 of tiled balconies with stunning views on the Eastern side.
Featuring curved walls and carefully selected fittings, the finish was of the highest quality. A particular representation of Lobell Construction’s organisation skills the code of compliance inspection passed the first time including the handover documentation. We are extremely proud of the building.
