ABOUT THE PROJECT

Laman Street Residence is an ultra-compact reinvention of a two bedroom semi-attached home in Newcastle’s cultural heart. SDA established a hierarchy of spaces allowing the design to be developed around the clients specific requirements and budget. The main focus of the design was to open up the rear of the ground floor to provide a visual connection between indoor and outdoor areas and increase natural light.

To maximise the usable area of the house, a flexible courtyard space was created. A glazed roof allows the courtyard to be used as an all year round outdoor dining area and laundry, while still providing natural light and ventilation to the internal space. The house reflects a true collaboration between client, builder and architect.

About the
Professional

As a team of architects, designers and project managers with local knowledge and international experience, we are constantly putting our skills to the test to create outstanding design solutions for our clients across the multi-residential, workplace, education, health, retail, community, residential, industrial and hospitality sectors.

Architecture is expressive, innovative and creative, but it’s also about solving problems and overcoming limits. Our team challenge the status quo, elevate clients’ missions, and seek to measurably improve lives and communities.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
