As Sydney keeps building upwards, rooftop gardens are becoming more of an occurrence for us. This project is truly a favourite of ours, as the existing views were nothing short of exceptional. For this reason, the gardens design had to be highly considered, so not to take away or compete with the views to Sydney harbour.

Working closely with Still Space Architecture, the areas set aside for the perimeter gardens were generous and this was a major reason for the success of the overall project. Something rarely seen as the tendency is to maximise hard pavements. The depth of these gardens allowed for layered plantings, combinations of textures, forms and shapes. Allowing us to create a true garden.

A lack of an established tree canopy paired with the elevated and exposed position, meant the garden would need to survive full sun, frontline coastal conditions, strong winds and driving rain. As a result, the planting palette of hardy and proven species was appropriately composed. The entertaining areas were then finished with outdoor furniture settings by Tait.
