Market Studio.

Working within the existing shell of the north-east corner of the Prahran Market, this renovation transforms the space into a light, colourful, warm and welcoming studio that reflects our approach to interiors, while celebrating the character of the original building.

It is a creative and collaborative workplace rather than a conventional office. Colour, natural light, texture, furniture, art and lighting all contribute to an environment that feels comfortable and uplifting. The studio brings together pieces from many of our favourite Australian designers, suppliers and makers, creating a space that inspires our team every day.

Rather than starting again, we saw the project as an opportunity to work carefully within the existing shell and demonstrate our belief that thoughtful design can transform and extend the life of an existing building. Our approach was deliberately light touch. We retained the existing shell and much of the character of the original building, concentrating our intervention on the elements that would have the greatest impact on how the studio feels and functions.

The renovation included a complete lighting redesign, new furniture, rugs, curtains and soft furnishings, together with improvements to the way the studio is arranged and used. We created dedicated areas for collaborative work, meetings, our material library, and more focused individual work.

The result is a significant transformation without unnecessary demolition or rebuilding, reflecting our broader approach to adaptive reuse and sustainability.
