A humble, homely abode in a leafy green setting, the Maternal & Child Health Centre is shaped by its quiet, quaint surroundings. Blending into the background, whilst remaining central to the parklands.

A mother’s initial relationship with her child manifests through touch and tactility – the first kick, a comforting hug, a helping hand, a leading influence.

We hope to realise these notions within the context of the Health Centre. How might we create a natural, warm and soothing environment in the same way a mother does for her child? The Zen-inspired design is seamless and flowing, encouraging a worry-free mentality when it comes to an exciting, yet unknown future. Rather, finding peace and drawing inspiration from things that are not yet fixed.

Ephemeral, tranquil moments of reassurance. The materiality is delicate and simple, an honesty that captures the relationships nurtured within this centre.

About the
Professional

We are an international architecture and interior design practice with a vision to Nurture the Future. With offices in Melbourne, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, K2LD is now over 20 years old. We’re a proud, passionate and diverse group of individuals who combine to create great outcomes for our clients and the urban environment.

It’s in our differences that we find our distinctiveness, and that shows in our work – from all scales of single or multi-residential and commercial developments, through to public and private education and infrastructure projects throughout the region.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
