Project Overview

Kāinga Ora and McMillan & Lockwood engaged Thomas Consultants Ltd to prepare an assessment of the existing infrastructure in the vicinity of the site to support a Resource Consent application for the proposed development which consisted of 25 one and two-bedroom dwellings in one five-storey apartment building. The infrastructure design was further executed and monitored to make sure it fully met therequirements.

The Goal

The goal was to provide assessment and design recommendations based on desktop studies and site investigations of the existing infrastructure to confirm their suitability in servicing the development in accordance with the latest Auckland Council regulations. The development was driven by the need to meet tight cost plans and time frames and infrastructure design needed to balance the scale of the building envisaged by the zone with the scale of the existing context.

The Process

The process involved preparing detailed design plans and liaising with local authorities for approvals. Thomas Consultants was successful in obtaining the relevant approvals and our construction monitoring team took a proactive approach, working with our client and subcontractors to identify and mitigate any risks that may impact this project.
