Key client drivers on this project were a tight programme and fixed budget – both delivered as expected.
The reception was refurbished on a tight budget with the aim of providing a contemporary environment that staff and visitors alike could be proud of.
The client dictated that existing work floor layouts predominantly had to remain but that a new look and feel was necessary to revitalise the workplace and deliver a ‘wow’ factor.
Working with this brief, GHD Woodhead creativespaces consulted widely with Microsoft stakeholders internationally (US, Singapore and Hong Kong) to develop a design that improved workflow, decor and staff amenities and took advantage of extensive harbour views.
The project involved a move to a totally agile workplace, with enhanced meeting rooms, new phone booths, lockers and enhanced technology.
The colour theming of the fitout was based around the “views”, Wynyard Quarter, the Harbour, the city at night and Victoria Park. This theming also aided with wayfinding and a sense of place.
The refurbishment of the café/breakout created a chic industrial aesthetic, while retaining a residential feel that resonated with staff.
At GHD Design we are committed to innovate for positive impact, inspire creativity and foster collaboration to co-create a more integrated built environment, that not only provides a sense of place, but ignites a sense of community.
Leveraging our unique methodologies across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, fit-out management, planning and engineering GHD Design goes beyond problem-solving, using clever design to get to the root of the challenge, creating a better, more sustainable built world for generations to come.
