Modern Man Cave banner

Strong masculine overtones of concrete, steel, glass and deep refined hues were our clients brief for his ‘mancave’ home.

Occupying a tight urban site footprint this compact yet generously spacious home delivers a sense of urbane quality and studious design with considered construction detailing.

A central concrete pre-cast panel dissects and anchors the building while black stained dressed cedar boards maintain a sympathetic monochromatic colour scheme.

Floating steel & timber stairs are a stand-out feature of this home. The dark stained oak stair treads and steel mono stringer look like a work of art. LED strip lighting fitted to the bottom of each stair tread makes the stair glow.

The Kitchen is a hub for entertaining with a luxe bar area storing fine wines and spirits.  A spacious layout including an in-bench cooktop allows the space to be utilised by multiple people at one time.

This innovative design presents an elegant intimate aesthetic with dark characteristics prevalent throughout the home. Much emphasis has been placed on consistency of scale, balance and proportion and finished with fine detailing.

Located in Mount Maunganui, our award-winning studio is led by Architectural Design Director Jason Macdonald. With more than 25 years’ experience, Jason possesses a deep understanding of the local context, a diverse skillset, and a profound passion for his craft.

The foundation of our projects rests upon a thorough understanding of our clients needs. Through an open and collaborative process, we diligently work to ensure that the final outcome not only maintains its relevance and meaning but also authentically reflects their individual identities and the unique characteristics of each site.

Our deeply grounded design values focus on understanding our clients and delivering a professional service. These values shape every design vision and decision.

Our creative process is built upon this foundation, ensuring consistency in what ever project and design we take on. Our philosophy is that good architecture is a combination of simplicity, aesthetics and functionality brought to life with meticulous attention to detail and the use of enduring quality materials.

Architectural excellence, designed with purpose for everyday living.
